5 Reasons Not To Buy Yuphoria

So the Yu Yuphoria is in-house and as I mentioned in my initial impressions the Yu Yuphoria is not just about insane specifications at a ultra-low and affordable price tag, but there are some corks in there too. And here are my top 5 major issues that I had with the Yu Yuphoria.
Do note that this isn’t about producing mass hate about the Yu Yuphoria but these are some genuine issues that can be seen/ faced while using the Yuphoria. You can check out this post over here for my Top 5 Reasons To But the Yuphoria (coming soon).

1. No OTG Support

Now if it was 2012 or 2013 for that matter, then we could have understood this issue. As generally for that timeline OTG support wasn’t common with budget smartphones. But with the fall of 2014, almost every other smartphone comes with USB OTG support, and I am quite disappointed to see that Yu didn’t bother to care for simple USB OTG, even after calling it the Zeus of Smartphones.

2. No LED Notification Light

What could be much more disappointing than the lack of LED notifications? LED notifications are present even in some of the cheapest of all smartphones, and here again Yuphoria lacks one of the most used features of a smartphone these days. The LED notification light is a lot crucial for notifications, as it helps you to let know when you receive any sort of missed calls, SMS, emails or anything else for that matter. But for some reason Yu Televentures aren’t really that much keen about that.

3. Pinkish HUE in the Display

Now if you remember from my unboxing video of the YU Yuphoria then I did mention about this weird pinkish tint to the display which takes away from the overall user experience. Now yes it’s true that the retail units of the Yuphoria possess this major issue of pink tint in the display, but with lots of other smartphones in this category generally tend to give a color calibration tool hidden deep inside somewhere in the settings panel, but again for some reason it is just not there in Yuphoria. Generally devices running on CyanogenMod or Cyanogen OS have this feature and it isn’t unique for any particular CyanogenMod for particular device/s, but for some reason it isn’t there at all. This is one of the issues which can be easily fixed with a OTA update, and I have my fingers crossed for that.

4. Poor Audio Quality

yuphoria audio quality, lacks audio
For this particular flaw, there are 2 perspectives to this. Number one, when you are listening to some genre like trance that doesn’t need enough bass and is mostly played on Mids and Highs, and for that particular type of scenario it sounds good, better than the average. But when you’re about to listen to something like Dubstep or EDM which requires lots of bass, then the YU Yuphoria will majorly disappoint you. The YU Yuphoria certainly lacks bass, but if you can do away with the included earphones or Bluetooth speakers or any 3rd party solution for that matter, then you’re good.

5. Sensitive Light Sensor

Now, this is one of the features that YU Yuphoria users complain about, and it’s the Sensitive Light Sensor. Now let me make these particular things clear, there is nothing wrong with the light sensor, and for most of the time it works flawlessly. But what really makes the user experience terrible is the system and how it interprets the data from the Light Sensor. When the Yuphoria is exposed to an extreme dark environment, the system measures the data in a complete wrong way and shuts off the display completely making it almost unusable.
I have a strong feeling that flaws like this can be easily fixed through a simple OTA update, and if YU notices everything mentioned above, then chances are of having everything getting fixed in the next OTA. So definitely do share, and hopefully we can convince YU Televentures for another OTA addressing all of those issues.
